Simplified layout. All support functions, oil and water pumps, coolers, filters, safety and regulator valves have been collected in a single frontbox for easy accessibility and maintenance.

Pipeless design. All these functions are linked to the internal oil and water circuits without pipes. Overall, the number of components have been reduced by no less than 40%. Fewer components means higher reliability.

Separate cylinder units. Each complete cylinder assenbly: cylinder head, piston, cylinder liner and con-rod can be removed as a unit for easy maintenance and replacement.

Self-controlled cooling-water system. Patented single-string system ensure optimal combustion conditions from idle to full load and eliminate internal condendation.

Lambda controller. A lambda controller ensures that all injected fuel is burned, avoiding increased engine internal contamination and wear that may otherwise lead to gen-set step loading.

Improved noise and vibration insulation. The engine mounts are specially designed to minimize vibration with very effective sound insulation.

Full compatibility with MAN B&W main engine. The L16/24 and its support systems have been designed to be fully compatible with MAN B&W main engine, allowing for an integrated approach to cabin design in terms of fuel-oil supply, cooling water and starting air system with the advantages of lower cost for the first time, and easy for maintenance and operation.
